Milberg LLP is investigating the maker of Fit Flop footwear for possible violations of state consumer laws. 

Fit Flop sandals and boots are promoted as footwear that gives users a workout while walking. The company claims that the footwear help increase leg and bottom muscle activity, absorb more shock than a normal shoe, and help realign joints.  However, ABC’s 20/20 reported that these benefits do not exist, and worse, the footwear may increase the risk of injury.  In the report, two physicians examined the purported health benefits of Fit Flops and both decided that the company’s claims were flawed.  Moreover, the technology of the footwear caused pronation in the ankle, which may result in knee or foot pain or shin splints, among other injuries.
